The Israeli ISMN Agency is located at the Israeli Center for Libraries, and has been operating since 2003. The central aim of the Israeli Center is to advance and foster Libraries, Librarianship, Information Science and the culture of books and reading in Israel. The Center is an organization specializing in supplying professional service to libraries, librarians, and those dealing with information and the publishing industry. In addition, the Center also initiates literary activity to advance Israeli authors and their works, at the core of Israel's cultural life.
Areas of activity are: bibliographic databases, guidance and in-service courses; conferences; professional publications; library depot, literary projects, and publishers. The Center is the sole representative in Israel of the international organizations that assign ISBNs, ISSNs and ISMNs.
