    Successful ISMN AGM in São Paulo

    Connecting Cultures with the ISMN.

    The 18th Annual General ISMN meeting was held in São Paulo, Brazil, in September 2025, bringing together representatives from over 20 countries. Reports from Latvia, Japan and Colombia were presented alongside demonstrations of the updated ISMN website, new ISMN Manager features and a video from the Zagreb Regional Meeting. Participants discussed future cooperation, with new interest from countries considering ISMN membership.

    The ISMN board expresses its heartfelt thanks to the Brazilian hosts and all attendees for making the event a success!

    We are pleased to introduce the newly developed online platform of the International Agency. This site is intended for both national agencies and interested parties seeking information about our work and organisational structure.

    The new website offers a range of useful features and resources, including:

    Regional ISMN and ISBN meeting in Zagreb, Croatia.

    10/11 June 2025.

    In the beautiful city of Zagreb the regional ISBN and ISMN meeting brought together colleagues from over ten countries (Serbia – Slovenia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Hungary – Bulgaria – Croatia – Republika Srpska – Montenegro – Kosova – UK and Germany)  to share ideas, experiences and challenges in the world of publishing and music documentation.

    This regional gathering is a long-standing tradition. Since 2009 it is a space where national ISBN and ISMN agencies connect, exchange expertise, and support one another in adapting to a changing publishing landscape.

  • Meeting 2025 in São Paulo

    Dear ISMN agencies,

    in this year the AGM and Panel Meeting of the International ISMN Agency will take place in São Paulo, Brazil on Thursday, 18 September 2025 in the meeting rooms of Câmara Brasileira do Livro (CBL).

    The ISMN AGM and Panel meeting is scheduled on Thursday, 18 September, starting at 10:00 am (check in at 9:30 am), finishing in the early afternoon at 1:30 pm.

    Please note: it will be a in-person-meeting only (no live stream).

    The International ISMN Agency can provide letters of invitation for any delegates of the national ISMN Agencies who would like to attend the AGM. In case you require a letter of invitation, please write to ismn@ismn-international.org.

    The Board of the International ISMN Agency is looking forward to welcome you in São Paulo in September this year!

  • IN MEMORIAM

    We are sad to inform you today that our esteemed colleague Dr. Joachim Jaenecke died on December 11, 2024. We remember him with great reverence.

    Over the course of his professional life in the music department of the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin Preussischer Kulturbesitz  (Berlin Prussian Cultural Heritage State Library), Joachim Jaenecke has always been highly committed to the interests of the music library scene in addition to his actual duties. He was president of the German group of IAML for many years and on the board of IAML international for several years.

    His professional area of responsibility was primarily the area of printed music and so he was immediately ready to take part in the realignment of the International ISMN Agency since 2006 in the newly founded association with a new office in Berlin Steglitz as deputy chairman.
    His professional competence, his personal commitment and his energy, which he brought into this work well into his retirement, have helped the International ISMN Agency greatly. We will keep his memory honorable.

  • Meeting 2024 in Paris

    Dear ISMN agencies, Dear ISMN Friends,

    We are very much looking forward to the forthcoming ISMN Annual General Meeting in Paris.

    We meet at Hotel Mercure Paris Bercy Bibliothèque (6, boulevard Vincent Auriol; 75013 Paris) on Thursday, 26 September 2024 (check-in from 9.30 am).
    As every year, there will be a joint dinner on the day before the AGM.

    We meet for dinner on Wednesday, 25 September 2024, at 7 pm at the Brasserie “Chez Lili et Marcel” (1, quai d’Austerlitz; 75013 Paris).

    We are delighted to welcome you all to Paris.
