At this year’s ISMN Annual Conference in Madrid, 36 participants and 23 voting members discussed current issues relating to the ISMN standard and its global use and dissemination. In a critical yet democratic spirit and with great mutual respect, the participants examined the challenges and opportunities involved in working as a national ISMN agency. Furthermore, a decision was taken to update the ISMN membership system.

On the eve of the annual conference, the participants gathered for a dinner together at the traditional restaurant Casa Lucio and concluded the meeting day with an outstanding guided tour of Madrid’s Municipal Historical Library. Our special thanks go to Julia Iglesias for her very interesting guest lecture ‘Keeping Music Alive: Music Publishing, Archives and Performance in Spain and Portugal‘ that offered an overview of the Spanish and Portuguese musical ecosystem from the perspective of a local publisher and representative.
